The RGC_The RGC_MC subscibes to TexQuest. Texquest provides access to authoritative digital resources for educators, students, and students' immediate families in Texas K-12 public schools and open-enrollment charter schools.  These are supplemental instructional resources provided at a fraction of individual access subscriptions through the Texas Library and Archives Commission.  Cole students access the age appropriate set of databases via Classlink.  Parents can contact the school librarian via email ([email protected]) for access instructions and the password. An overview of each available database is provided below with its grade level group.

Ferguson’s Career Guidance Center is an award-winning reference database for lifelong career exploration and planning. It offers a wealth of resources for users to assess their career goals and interests, plan their education, learn workplace skills, find apprenticeships and internships, conduct a job search, and much more.

 

 

  Infobase Science Online iconWith a wealth of content that facilitates STEM research and learning, the award-winning Science Online offers a comprehensive overview of a broad range of scientific disciplines. Topic Centers feature specially selected content on core science disciplines to help students find a starting point for their research. 

 

 

World Geography and Culture Online

World Georgraphy and Culture is the definitive resource for researching the world’s countries and geography. Comprehensive country profiles include more than 40 subfields on geography, history, government, society, and culture; a wide range of up-to-date statistics and at-a-glance information; current news; and maps, videos, illustrations, and images. Information for the U.S. states, Canadian provinces, and international territories is similarly detailed. Thousands of gazetteer entries, tools for ranking and comparing countries and states, a reference center for geographic concepts and principles, and illustrations of Earth’s physical geography offer additional access points.

 

History Resources – Knowles Library – Deer Park High School - South CampusInfobase Modern World History offers a comprehensive look at world history from the mid-15th century to the present. Thousands of subject entries, biographies, images, videos and slideshows, maps and graphs, primary sources, and timelines combine to provide a detailed and comparative view of the people, places, events, and ideas that have defined modern world history.

 Bloom's Literature Icon

Bloom’s Literature is rich with relevant content on core authors and works, multicultural classics, contemporary literature, and includes a wide range of reference essays and scholarly criticism examining great authors and their works. It features more than 1,300 full-length videos, including performances of great literary works to make the literature come to life, highlighting character interaction and pivotal plot devices that might be harder to discover in just the written word. Also included are video clips featuring major scholars such as Harold Bloom discussing important literary topics. Additionally, it includes a Literary Classics eBook shelf containing the full contents of more than 1,000 classic works of literature.

Vetted content is provided from over 366 geographically diverse newspapers, magazines, and journals, including 171 newspapers that are published in countries other than the United States. With a truly global view, users can find information on business and economics, conflict and diplomacy, society and culture, environment and climate change, and more. 

 

 

Database Research: Infobase Health Reference Center - Hamakuapoko Learning  Center Library - Maui High SchoolHealth Reference Center includes comprehensive, in-depth coverage of body systems, current health issues, major diseases and conditions, treatments, and procedures, as well as health and nutrition information specific to men, women, children, teens, and seniors. This database includes up-to-date information from hundreds of authoritative sources, including 59 encyclopedias from Facts On File’s Library of Health and Living series, the four-volume Encyclopedia of Health and Medicine, and a wealth of other proprietary titles and esteemed journals—information researchers can trust. Also included are more than 5,000 informational video clips and more than 2,500 searchable color illustrations.

Covering more than 500 years of the African-American experience, African-American History offers a fresh way to explore the full spectrum of African-American history and culture. Users can start their investigation of a topic with a video or slideshow overview, use the key content called out on the homepage to find an entryway into the database, or dig deep into an era through the Topic Centers.

Spanning our nation’s history—from prehistory to the present day—American History was developed and curated by leading editors and scholars in the study of American history. It is composed of a variety of learning assets, including articles, images, primary source documents, timelines, videos, and slideshows.

Ancient and Medieval History (Infobase) | Fort Bend County LibrariesInfobase Ancient and Medieval History provides thorough coverage of world history from prehistory through the mid-1500s, with special Topic Centers on key civilizations and regions, including the ancient Near East, Egypt, Greece, and Rome; ancient and medieval Africa, Asia, and the Americas; and medieval Europe and the Islamic World. Each civilization’s history is brought to life through tablet/mobile-friendly videos and slideshows, primary sources, maps and graphs, timelines, articles, and suggested search terms.
