Welcome

The Cole Leadership and Character Development Corps (LCDC) welcomes you to our web page.  We are proud of our successes from our first year sic years ago to now. We look forward to continuing this year with many more successes and accomplishments. Our Corps consist of sixth, seventh and eighth graders whose parent(s) currently serves or previously served in our military. The Cadets will participate in activities including leadership, drill, athletics and scholastic on campus and within their communities.

The LCDC program is rewarding by offering an educational experience like no other offered at the middle school level.  Our mission is to develop and inspire leadership skills and character development in middle school students. The once student now cadet is immersed into a family and team known as the corps of cadets.  As a member of the corps, they will learn how to follow, how to lead and in the process become more responsible and mindful of themselves and others.

Similar to the highly successful high school level Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC), the LCDC program provides a structured and supportive environment that many young people need to thrive both educationally and developmentally.  Cadets are more than students; they are leaders who are preparing themselves for success in school and in life.

Cadets will learn: Personal responsibility and accountability – Cadets will learn the importance of personal responsibility as part of a team and as a U.S. Citizen.  Physical and mental resiliency – Cadets will learn to challenge themselves beyond mediocrity. Self-esteem and confidence – Cadets will learn how to strive to be the best.  Organization skills – Cadets will learn the importance of organization and how it relates to leadership.  Decision making skills – Cadets will learn how to look at options to determine which is best.

Cadets within the LCDC program have the opportunity to earn rank and awards that they wear on their cadet uniform.  Awards and rank are linked to behavior and performance and serve as a strong motivator to many cadets. Within each LCDC class cadets will have the opportunity to serve in leadership positions and lead their classmates.  This helps build confidence in cadets and enhances personal responsibility. 

Cadets will be involved in various activities to include Corps Day (Cadet Team Competition), Unit and Individual Drill Competition, Cadet Challenge (Physical Fitness), Color Guard, Community Service, (Personal responsibility and accountability) Team Building Events, Awards Ceremonies and Promotion Boards, (Self-esteem and confidence).
