FSHISD Posts District of Innovation Plan

The District of Innovation concept, passed by Texas Legislature, gives traditional school districts more flexibility and local control and increases a district’s ability to decide what best meets the unique needs of the students and to customize a response to those needs. In our ongoing effort to meet the needs of our students and families, FSHISd has posted a proposed plan to become a District of Innovation. Cole Principal Named Finalist for H-E-B Award

Robert G. Cole Middle and High School principal, Dr. Isabell Clayton, was honored as a finalist for the 2017 H-E-B Excellence in Education Award at a surprise assembly held on Tuesday, March 7. Representatives from H-E-B, along with H.E.Buddy, made the announcement as middle and high school students cheered while Clayton accepted a $1,000 check for herself as well as a $2,500 check for the school.

AcaDec Excels at State!

The Cole Academic Decathlon had a strong showing at this weekend’s state meet. Jasmine G. and Gabrielle Saddler increased their total scores by 500 and 800 points. Cole's top Honors student was Katie Keenan, top scholastic was Braesha A., top varsity was Meagan R. Gabriela Sanchez won a medal for the top overall speech in the state and Braesha A. received a medal coming in 1st place in the state for interview. Congratulations to all academic decathlon competitors.

District and Campus Survey Results Available for Review

FSHISD conducted its first district and campus surveys to inform students, parents, staff, and other district stakeholders of perceptions in key areas. Using a continuous improvement model, district and campus teams will discuss results, gather more information if necessary, identify areas of strength and improvement needed, and develop action steps.

Congratulations to San Antonio Book Festival Fiction Contest Finalist & 2nd Place Winner!

Two Cole students recently won awards in a local writing contest. 7th grader Arianna was a Fiction Contest finalist for “The Girl and the Bridge”. 10th grader Mia Mercer won 2nd place in the 9th/10th Grade Division for “Building Bridges: A Uniting Touch”.

These students and their teachers will be invited to introduce authors who will be making presentations at the San Antonio Book Festival on April 8, 2017.

Cole Swimmers Qualify for Regionals!

Congratulations to the Cole Swim Team for their results in the District 28 5A meet at the Palo Alto Natatorium. The girls 400 Free Relay set a new school record and are advancing to the regional. Samantha Lee qualified to compete in the 100 Fly, 500 free and as a member of the 400 free relay. The boys also qualified in the 400 free relay. Nine swimmers will be traveling to the regional meet being held in Rosenberg, TX this Friday and Saturday.
